Signs and Symptoms of an Asthma Attack

  • Hoarse whistling or wheezing sound when exhaling
  • Trouble breathing/shortness of breath

  • Feeling of fear or confusion

When to Call 9-1-1

  • If breathing trouble does not improve in a few minutes after using medication

  • Help them calm down and breathe slowly
  • Have them sit comfortably
  • Loosen tight clothing and sports equipment
  • Assist with prescribed medication if requested

Athlete's should not return to regular activity unless cleared by a physician.
